Students’ organic garden

The student-led Medical Roots Garden Group at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville has been harvesting it’s crops for a few weeks now.

The organic garden was an idea generated by the Medical Roots Group. The Greenville Health System generously donated space on campus next to the Health Sciences Education Building for the garden which makes it convenient for group members to meet during their lunch breaks to maintain, harvest and plant these late-season vegetables.

In photo below, student members Eric Fulmer, left, and Georgia Lesser inspect collard growth.

The fruits of the medical students’ labors, in photo below, are fresh-harvested Swiss chard and herbs which are offered free for the taking to students, faculty, administrators and other school visitors.
